As Britain remains in the grasp of winter many people find themselves thinking about possible summer holiday options. The south of Spain will still be our top choice this year again with cheap flights and guaranteed sunshine toping the reasons why so many of us chose to holiday overseas.

With so many desperate to get away and get a tan Cancer Research UK and others have once again highlighted concerns about the amount of potential damage done to the average brits body during their 14 days I the sun. Furthermore, with many choosing to get a “base tan” on a sunbed before they fly a new campaign back my leading Skin Clinics entitled ‘R UV UGLY’ is due on our TV anytime soon.

The program aims to encourage people not to hit the sunbeds this spring and to introduce grounding on how sunbeds can cause long-term skin damage. It’s difficult to fly in the face of so many celebs with their orange tans but the larger problem is that many continual users know the damage they are doing but are prepared to risk it any way as they still believe sunbeds make them look and feel better.

The campaign will fight back showing images from new techniques that look deep into the skin showing what’s going on underneath and how that equates to early skin aging and wrinkles. Its kind of saying that yes you look better now but do you really want to look 40 at 30 or 70 at 50?

As well as the press campaigns Cancer Research UK will be taking R UV UGLY on the rad this month touring some of the country’s biggest shopping centres in Sheffield, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds and Essex to interact with their target demographic , i.e. young people ( predominantly female ) with money to spend.

When it comes to wiping your behind not much has changed since paper replaced a stick. But (forgive the pun) I have started using Andrex moist toilet tissues in the last few days and I felt compelled to tell you all about it.

Whilst they are a little dearer than the traditional rolls but now there is only the two of us we don’t really use as much as we used to I was inclined to spend the little bit extra and try. So first of all they are moist, the name pretty much gives that away of course but that little extra moisture really makes a difference. Without going into too much detail the “area” does feel cleaner and more fresh. For many years we all use moist tissues to remove makeup and it would be hard going back to a non-moist option I would guess. Well not even a week in I cant see myself ever returning to a traditional roll on it own again.

The Andrex Washlets are supposed to be used in conjunction with paper tissues and you use one or two sheets at the end to both clean and moisturise. It was a little disconcerting the first time as I did not really dry the “area” but that was just the moisturiser and it quickly seeped into my skin and dried off.

I got my from the supermarket, I never really saw them before but now I have seen them everywhere and you can order them online from amazon and the like. The cost as I say is a little dearer than just rolls and I paid £12.99 for 6 tubs each with 42 sheets which will last us 6 weeks or so I guess so it not too bad. The price of a decent bottle of wine..

With Christmas almost on top of us its had to find the right present sometimes. Kids are always easy and guys love gadgets but what do you buy for the lady in your life. Perfume is old school and clothes and cosmetics are difficult.

I remember last year buying my wife some eye cream I saw on the TV. I distinctly remember her looking up from her ipad and nodding approvingly at the claims the advert made about the way it covered and helped to reduce the fine lines she was always complaining about. I thought that I would surprise her with a little tub of said potion for an extra “under the xmas tree present” – BIG mistake..

All day I got daggers from her with those very eyes i sought to help, I thought I was a caring modern man but apparently I was just saying that she had a baggy face and needed to put some cream on it to cover the fact that she as getting old. That’s the thanks I get for taking an interest in what I thought she wanted.

Anyway fast forward 12 months and to my surprise today she asked me if I could buy her some more eye cream this year. It seems after all that she really liked the brand after all and was just about the best eye cream she had ever had !

I of course could not remember the name and had to be reminded that’s its Dr LeWinns. The Good doctor was some major plastic surgeon to the stars back in the day and successfully branched out into his own range of Dr LeWinns cosmetics when he failed to find a brand he was happy to recommend to patients.
